OA-10A 44-33976, "Old Ironsides" of the 7th Emergency Rescue Squadron.
This particular
plane departed the USA for India on 10 Feb
1945, assigned to the 7th ERS. In August, 1945 the squadron
transferred from India to Okinawa and on 15 Jan
1946 merged with the 6th ERS, retaining the latter's number (6th
ERS). On 31 July 1946
the plane was on a search mission for a missing aircraft when the
bombardier's window stowed in on a water takeoff at Okino-Erabu Shima.
The plane sank, but its crew escapaed uninjured.
